BUMMP is the Biology Undergraduate and Masters Mentorship Program at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). BUMMP seeks to create a haven for the brightest minds from all walks of life. The most effective problem-solving is often executed by diverse thinkers. Unfortunately, this diversity is not always expressed or represented clearly. Their primary aim is to ensure that UCSD’s underrepresented students are equipped with an awareness of their place in science and with the strength to stand in that place and advance to higher heights.
This logo development initiative led to the creation of a logo that reflects BUMMP’s mission to create seamless interactions between Undergraduate and MSc students, faculty, postdocs and Ph.D. students at UCSD, as well as to connect students to a host of post-graduation opportunities and mental health resources to help them navigate scientific life after UCSD.
An Approachable, Colorful, and Fun personality
The BUMMP logo captures their essence and personality. The connected “mm” in the logo portrays BUMMP as a place of belonging, safety, inclusion, relationship, collaboration, science and brilliance. The logo is also blue, a peaceful and soothing color that speaks to their dependability, authority, and security.
A vibrant pastel color scheme was selected to highlight the brilliant diverse minds that come from all walks of life. These bright colors also speak to the anticipation and excitement for life beyond UCSD!
